The political coffee, that most intimate form of local politics, still works. Friday evening, David and Mena Boulanger, veteran political players in Oak Park, opened their home to two candidates running for county offices in February's Democratic primary.

Here Ade Onayemi, well known in Oak Park as a former elementary school board leader and now a candidate for the 1st District seat on the Cook County board, makes his case to potential supporters. Also invited was Todd Connor, a North Side Chicago Democrat who's running for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District.

The informal political network also brought two other candidates to the Boulanger's home Friday. Oak Parker Pam McLean Meyerson, one of a slew of candidates for Cook County circuit court judge in the 11th subcircuit, joined the group. And Chicago Ald. Toni Preckwinkle, a Democratic candidate for Cook County board president, pushed her progressive credentials in a village she is looking to for heavy support.
